Kevin Rudd at KPMG

Post  Lachlan on Sat Nov 01, 2008 10:17 pm

For some time Kevin Rudd worked at the firm KPMG one of the 'Big Four Auditors' alongside Price Waterhouse Coopers, Ernst & Young, and Delloitte Touche Tohmatsu. KPMG has represented companies from Halliburton to SONY. The firm has also been embroiled in a number of tax scams and was even the subject of an episode of PBS' frontline called Tax Me if You Can It would be interesting to investigate who exactly Kevin Rudd was involved in representing. It has been difficult to track down info on this in a standard websearch, which simply makes me more determined, the list of his clients must be public somewhere so it can be found. The only other thing I found was a conspiracy website claiming Rudd took a bribe from the PLA to provide them with weapons (proably bullshit.) But As a consultant on China no doubt former clients may be rewarded by his consistent push towards opening Australia to Asian markets. Food for thought.
It is also becoming apparent in this investigation, the story on media and the military contracts story, that large investment firms are the real power players in Australian media and politics, not a huge surprise but like I said in my little bit on Media why do these large entities wish to remain faceless, hiding behind a series of public fronts. An investigation of this range of large and powerful acronyms may be useful as it relates to our reports on government, media, public transport, oil, energy and water. These companies can not remain unnaccountable. I am going to scout aroundand try and find the biggest firms involved in Australia, most of the time Australia is only a small piece of the pie for these giant companies, which makes me curious in a country with such supposedly strict regulation on foreign ownership what loopholes are being used to bypass this.

But wait there's more

One thing I thought was perhaps noteworthy was that former Victorian Premier, Steve Bracks was also employed by KPMG. Not to mention a more thorough examination of their client list includes KBR (surprise, surprise), BHP Billiton, several US departments (including the department of Homeland Security), a range of computer companies (likely to benefit from the laptop for every student scheme) as wall as nearly every major bank and energy consortium in the world. Not to mention the 'Big Four' auditors mentioned in my previous post is already an obsolete term as the auditors formerly known as the big eight, then the big five, then the big four, will now be the big three with the proposed merger of KPMG and Ernst & Young creating the world's biggest auditing firm in the world so far, and of course expanding the client portfolio even further. KPMG was also recently sued by the Australian Securities and Investments Committee, and may be in trouble in the US under anti-trust laws, shady shit people. Lets find out more!
Whoop, already found out more and it is exactly as I suspected, not only is KPMG tied to KBR and Halliburton but it has given emloyees to and taken employees from other major firms invested in Australian media including KKR (50% holder of Seven Network) and CVC Capital Investment Partners (50% of Consolidated Media Holdings) The more I look into it the more this looks dirty, I'll keep looking but see what you guys can find out.

Malcolm Turnbull

Post  Lachlan on Sat Nov 01, 2008 11:38 pm

Just to stick to the neutrality label and ensure our character assassination is two sided (and to remind everyone that labour is still the lesser of two evils) Malcolm Turbull's fickled career has placed him in positions that woud be even more advantageous in regards to the exploitation of his prominent political position. Turnbull was in fact (and these are not secrets) chairman of Consolidated Media Holdings, and his own investment firm (partnered with a former Labour Premier, Neville Wran) saw him becoming managing Director of Goldman Sachs (now partnered with KKR) he operated a clear falling logging company in the Solomon ISlands (Axiom Forest Resources) and profitted heavilly from a sale of Ozemail to corporate criminals WorldCom. His ties to Goldman Sachs also ally him heavilly to KPMG. SO either side seems in bed with the same companies.
